A History of Innovation...

One louder

During his time in the music business of the late '80s and early '90s Gordon worked with some of the worlds biggest artists; U2, Bryan Adams, Cher, Nirvana, Guns 'n' Roses and Aerosmith. However, it was the wonderful Spinal Tap and the release of their second album 'Break Like The Wind' that posed the greatest challenge.

The US company MCA wanted a number 1 album, a tall order with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Def Leppard, Madness and Beautiful South all vying for the top spot.

The answer was to persuade both HMV and Our Price to put Spinal Tap in at '0' ... one above the rest! This is the only time this has ever occured.

Again again....

In the mid 90's Gordon was part of the BBC Worldwide team that established BBC Multimedia and brought Wallace & Gromit, Pingu, Noddy and titles from Attenborough to the PC. Setting up the sales, marketing, distribution and design of the published titles threw up some big challenges. But perhaps the strangest release was the Teletubbies on Playstation. The 2-5 age group was seen at the time as too young a market to work a Playstation controller.

Through user research, clever design, simple play and well targetted marketing the Teletubbies Playstation became a big seller in the UK, US and France with licensing deals worldwide.

Music is coming home

In 2000 Gordon set up eJay in the UK. eJay had established itself as a popular music creation software product across Europe but lacked a cohesive community and brand.

Gordon brought in Carl Cox as a Director, with Future Publishing launched an eJay magazine, along with Germany set up 9 radio stations, a year long pormotion with MTV and built an 80,000 strong music community; arguably the worlds first.
